Rescue
Rescue in the sandias, Jason worked with this guy a few years back while he was teaching in Santa Fe. Nice dude. Unbeknownst to me, as I was doing my first 5.11 trad multi pitch only two canyons away, this guy was solo climbing the thumb, a prominent pillar in our mountain range. On the descent, after an insane afternoon of sideways rain and hail, he lost his footing and slipped to his death. Over 72 hours of searching which included canine units, APD, AFD, and local mountain rescue teams until he was finally found. "The mountains are not cruel, nor are they kind. They are indifferent. They don't care about you, your dreams or aspirations... your life. They take and give as they please knowing they alone rise to the Gods."

I am so sorry.
ReplyDeleteI liked the quote - it applies to much in life. One is lucky is there is not indifference in many situations, and yet....there is comfort in that as well. I looked up the author. It is by Courtney Bryan
